ソフトバンクグループ株式会社が100％出資するDEEPCOREは、AI、特にディープラーニング分野の優れた若手起業家育成を目指すAI特化型インキュベーターです。インキュベーションの拠点となるコミュニティ＆コワーキングスペース「KERNEL」（カーネル、東京都文京区本郷）を今後オープンし、AIテクノロジードリブンなコミュニティ運営や企業との共同実証実験、スタートアップ支援などを行います。また、ファンドを通じて有望なAIスタートアップにアーリーステージでの投資を行い、成長を支援します。
NVIDIAはコンピューターのグラフィックス処理や演算処理の高速化を主な目的とするGPUを開発する世界的なリーディングカンパニーです。近年はGPUの技術を生かしてAIコンピューティング分野でさまざまなプラットフォームを提供し、AIの爆発的な進化を支えています。
本協業により、DEEPCOREのコミュニティ＆コワーキングスペース「KERNEL」のメンバー（以下「KERNELメンバー」）は、NVIDIAからAIインフラ提供、トレーニング、コンサルティング、起業支援を含む包括的なサポートを受けて、AI分野の起業家を目指すことができます。

AIコンピューティングプラットフォーム
AIコンピューティングプラットフォームとして、世界最先端のGPUアーキテクチャであるNVIDIAのVoltaベースのGPUがKERNELに導入されるほか、クラウドベースのプラットフォーム「NVIDIA GPU Cloud (NGC)」の活用を通じて、KERNELメンバーの研究開発やプロジェクトの社会実装を支えます。NGCにはディープラーニングに最適化された、包括的なソフトウェア コンテナーが含まれており、利用者はクラウド経由でKERNELの外からも気軽にGPUコンピューティングリソースにアクセスすることができます。
2. NVIDIA Deep Learning Instituteを通じた人材の育成
NVIDIAは開発者や研究者向けに、最新の AI ツールや AI テクノロジーの使い方に関する実践的なトレーニングである Deep Learning Institute（DLI）を提供しており、すでに世界中で何万人もの開発者が自動運転車、金融、ヘルスケア、ウェブ サービスなどさまざまな分野におけるディープラーニングの活用方法を学んでいます。KERNELメンバーはオンデマンドのトレーニング講座を活用できるほか、NVIDIAやパートナー企業の認定専門インストラクターによるハンズオンのワークショップも開催される予定です。
3. KERNELメンバーへの技術コンサルティング
KERNELで導入するAIコンピューティングプラットフォームの運用サポートやプラットフォーム上で行うディープラーニングの高速化、最適化の技術支援が提供されます。また、NVIDIAのエンジニアがKERNELのメンバーと密接に連携し、メンバーが立ち上げたプロジェクトに関する個別の技術コンサルティングも行われる予定です。

SoftBank’s AI Incubator DEEPCORE Teams Up with NVIDIA to Fuel AI Startups in Japan
~NVIDIA’s comprehensive support will be made available to DEEPCORE’s community members~
TOKYO, April 23, 2018 —DEEPCORE Inc. (“DEEPCORE”), an AI-focused incubator backed by SoftBank Group Corp. and based in Japan, today announced a collaboration with NVIDIA Corporation (“NVIDIA”) to support and develop young and talented entrepreneurs in the AI field.
DEEPCORE is an AI-focused incubator that cultivates young and talented entrepreneurs in the AI field, especially in the field of deep learning. DEEPCORE will open the community and co-working space "KERNEL" (in Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), and build an AI technology-driven community that supports startups and enables joint projects with companies. DEEPCORE will also invest in promising early stage AI startups through its fund to support their growth.
NVIDIA’s GPU computing and deep learning technology platforms have been a catalyst for the explosive evolution of modern AI.
This collaboration will enable KERNEL members with entrepreneurial aspirations to benefit from NVIDIA’s comprehensive backing and support, including access to AI infrastructure, training, technical support and general business consulting for startups.

- AI computing platform
KERNEL members will use NVIDIA GPUs based on Volta, the world’s most advanced GPU architecture, and NVIDIA GPU Cloud (“NGC”) to support R&D and project implementation. NGC provides a comprehensive catalog of deep learning software containers that take full advantage of NVIDIA GPUs. These optimized containers will run on the NVIDIA GPUs installed on-premises at KERNEL. Conversely, members working outside of KERNEL can also enjoy full access to GPU computing resources via NGC’s support for popular cloud service providers.
- NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute
Through the Deep Learning Institute (“DLI”), NVIDIA has provided tens of thousands of researchers and developers with practical training in the latest AI tools and technologies, showing how deep learning can be applied to fields ranging from autonomous vehicles and finance to health care and web services. Support for KERNEL members includes access to on-demand DLI training courses as well as hands-on workshops led by certified instructors from NVIDIA and its partners.

NVIDIA will provide technical support to operate the AI computing platform for KERNEL as well as optimization to accelerate deep learning algorithms which will run on it. Also, NVIDIA engineers will work closely with KERNEL members for technical consulting on individual projects.

Innovative startups from KERNEL can apply to join this program and take advantage of business matching through NVIDIA’s worldwide ecosystem so they can start their AI business effectively. Partners will gain early access to the very latest GPU hardware and software, along with benefits such as hardware grants and training with deep learning experts.
