LINEヤフーのコーポレートベンチャーキャピタルであるZ Venture Capital（以下、ZVC）は本日、Global Innovation Labs（以下、GIL）との戦略的事業提携を発表しました。
GILは、米国の非営利科学研究機関であるSRIの技術・知的財産の社会実装を担うパートナーとして設立されたベンチャーキャピタルです。SRIは長年にわたり、SiriやIntuitive Surgicalなど世界を変える技術を研究から事業へと転換してきた、世界有数の研究機関です。
本提携では、GILが持つSRIの技術・知的財産（IP）へのアクセスと事業化ノウハウに、ZVCが日本で培ってきたスタートアップへの投資・事業支援の実績と産業界とのネットワークを組み合わせます。
具体的には、AI・半導体、ロボティクス、宇宙、防衛、通信、量子など、SRIが世界最先端の研究開発を手がける分野において、米国発の優れた技術・IPと日本のディープテックスタートアップを繋ぐことで、世界に通用するスタートアップの創出を目指します。
またZVCとGILは、本提携をより実効性のある枠組みとするため、日本におけるファンドの組成も視野に協議を進めています。
日本でもおなじみのSiriをはじめ、手術支援ロボットで世界最大手のIntuitive Surgical、Microsoftに約197億ドル（約3兆円）で買収された音声認識・会話型AIのNuance、宇宙デブリの追跡・管理を手がけるLeoLabsなど、現代社会を形作る数多くの技術がSRIから生まれています。

TOKYO - August 17, 2026 - Z Venture Capital (ZVC), the corporate venture capital arm of LY Corporation, today announced a strategic business partnership with Global Innovation Labs (GIL).
For decades, SRI has been one of the world’s leading nonprofit research and development institutes, turning breakthrough research into businesses that have transformed everyday life, including Siri and Intuitive Surgical. GIL was established as the exclusive partner for commercializing SRI's technology and intellectual property globally.
The partnership brings together GIL’s access to SRI’s technology and intellectual property (IP) and its commercialization expertise with ZVC’s experience investing in and supporting startups in Japan and its extensive network across Japanese industry.
In particular, across areas where SRI conducts world-class research and development, including AI, semiconductors, robotics, space, defense, communications, and quantum technologies, the two firms will connect leading U.S. technologies and IP with Japanese deep tech startups, with the goal of building globally competitive companies.
ZVC and GIL are also discussing the establishment of a fund in Japan to provide a more effective framework for advancing the partnership.
Its spin-offs include Siri, now integrated into the iPhone; Intuitive Surgical, a global leader in surgical robotics; Nuance, the speech recognition and conversational AI company acquired by Microsoft for approximately ＄19.7 billion; and LeoLabs, which tracks and manages objects in Earth’s orbit. Many technologies that have shaped modern life originated from research conducted at SRI.
